The Fireman Saga Compendium edition by Ross Elder Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
I just finished reading this compendium, and that says a lot. If the author realized how the month of November is the absolute craziest time for me every year, for seven years straight, the mere fact that I fit his book in speaks volumes on how much I enjoyed it. If I had the time, I would have devoured this in about three days. I was a little confused at first about the editions, and which book came first, so I'm glad there was a compendium so I could read it as the author intended. This book has everything I love...and I'm sure millions of other readers love: action, suspense, fights, violence, revenge, vigilantism, and some dark, dry humor, as well as a little sexy romance. It has huge potential to just keep going and going with a huge series. I really hope the author does that. I hope more people recognize him too.
Jack is an average guy, average job, divorced, older kids...And like us all, is disgusted by criminal predators victimizing innocent people.
WARNING: I will try to not give any spoilers away...But I'm not completely sure what some people consider spoilers...SO, be forewarned, I do speak a little about events in the book.
.................................
A specific event is the straw that breaks the camels proverbial back for Jack.
Jack seems stunned at the ease in which he exacts justice...the ease leads to a way of life. He is financially rewarded and dedicates his life to eliminating human predatory vermin.
Along the way, he accrues some very valuable assets in the way of assistance and friendship. They have special training that improve his effectiveness. He also meets a lady and she unknowingly aides his plight when her reporting in a local news outlet creates a helpful diversion from his activities.
I do also like the love / romance part of this book...It's sexy but not pornographic...I truly love intense crime, mystery, suspense books that have heavy military and law enforcement themes...I guess I like the masculine read, but the added sensuality just makes it even better. As a woman, I always appreciate a little tenderness and that intimacy and sensuality in a story. However, I don't want a cheaply written novel that focuses all on sex like romance novels. Some sexy is awesome though...and it's in here.
This book actually had me wiggling as if I were on the edge of a seat and if I bit my nails, they'd be much shorter now. I wasn't sure how the change of setting to the military portion would be incorporated when it first started...but the writer wove that together very well into the original theme and character. The writer clearly has a grasp of that portion of the book...His bio here and on Amazon explains how and why...GREAT detail and description of the intensely physical scenes. I could 100% imagine it in my head, even tho I'm obviously not military...
I also have to say, some of the lines in this book were just raw fantastic. I highlighted them for future reference because I both cracked up and thought, "Wow. That's a great brain that came up with that mix of vocabulary to get a point across..."
Minor disclaimer, I had read other writing by the author. I've read several of his writings on his website and his short book, "Just Stop", so I was aware of his background before I started this book...Those writings piqued my interest in his novels. I'm thankful I was introduced to his writing by a friend. It's like discovering a hidden cache of gems in your own backyard.
I started his Perseid Collapse series the minute I shut the Fireman compendium.
I'm looking forward to it as well. Completely different type of story. I only read the first few pages before collapsing asleep from unrelated exhaustion, but it was a colorful, unique way to open a book, I already am committed and like it...
I seriously hope Mr. Elder keeps this Fireman series going. It's one of those books that made me feel sad when I finished it...It's like walking away from a good friend, knowing you either may not see them again for a long, long time or never. I heard rumblings in the distance from undisclosed locations that he's already writing again...and Jack will be back...I'm holding on to that.

The Fireman Saga Compendium edition by Ross Elder Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This is an excellent series that was impossible to put down. Ross Elder will have you hooked with the first few pages. I hope not only Mr. Elder writes more in this series, but I hope someone turns this into a Movie or a TV Series as well!!
Really liked this book. Ross Elder does a superb job with developing his characters, keeping the story fast-paced, and more importantly creating a great interesting story; and his sense of humor is pretty darn good too. Ross certainly knows what he is writing about, his description of Afghanistan is 100% on the money; he captures that place to a 'T'. My only compliant is figuring out which of the Book 1's really is the first book of this series, because you really can't read them out of sequence. Easy solution, just get this book, which is a compilation of his short stories all rolled into one book. Strongly recommend, a short read but a lot of fun.
This is my favorite story by this author. I thought I had written a review for it a year ago, but I don't see it here on . I have the paper back copy with a different cover, it's black with a Polaroid pic' of fire.
Most anyone can identify with Jack's desire to crush neighborhood criminals. I enjoyed going along with him as he fought back, plus the relationship he developed with a journalist, who gave credit for his doings to a really bad dude, was funny and romantic.

Hope there is more to come. It was an interesting story and not quite what I expected. Looking forward to more.
I am glad that I bought the Fireman Saga Compendium so that I can read one story after the other. Jack Lee Gregory is an interesting character he is over 40, divorced and somewhat meek at the beginning of the book. He becomes a vigilante and has he goes deeper into the vigilante culture he is forced to develop skills that allow him to be successful. He didn’t know how to kill in the beginning and becomes hardcore by the end. I think that’s what I really like about this story is that he was able to develop himself with the help of others to become a terror to the underworld. The book is fast-moving and I would like to read other stories by this author.
Extremely entertaining. I read on my free time at work, and caught myself making free time so that I could continue reading. Who can’t identify with a vigilant? If you haven’t found yourself wanting to dish out some good ole vigilante justice...you might want to reevaluate your life.
