Take a little Miss Perfect. Add a bad-boy chef to the mix. Watch the sparks fly in the kitchen…

There’s a fly in sous chef Shaye Harland’s soup. A fly in the form of her brother-in-law to be, a cocky, infuriatingly sexy outsider who muscles in on her kitchen. Del’s gunning for her job and flipping her ordered world upside down. If only he didn’t fry her brains with kisses that threaten to burn her resistance to ashes.

Winning a spot on a TV reality show is just what Del Westlake needs to repair the trashed reputation he left behind in L.A. Problem is, the film crew that arrives on Stewart Island captures more than cooking when the kitchen chemistry between him and Shaye turns explosive. Can Del keep his secrets, keep his hands off his delectable sous chef, and prevent his bad-boy ways from destroying his shot at being her Mr. Perfect?

Ready To Burn A Small Town Romance Stewart Island Series Book 3 edition by Tracey Alvarez Sunset Rose Books Literature Fiction eBooks

I enjoyed the first two books in this series. Stewart Island is a great setting and the location is an integral part of the story-line.

In Book 3, I found it hard to connect with both leading characters. Shaye has been the main support for her family and had to grow up in a hurry. Her portrayal, though, is surprisingly immature.
"Holy-freaking-guacamole with a side order of cinnamon sticks!" There was a lot of potential to develop her character. Instead, she is mocked numerous times for her overly demanding requirements in a partner; as if wanting some who was dependable, who listened to her, and loved her was asking too much.

Del's character was all over the map in a way that didn't ring true. His turnabout in how he felt about the island was too quick given his background. The story-line with Jessica was over the top. With all the emotional ping pong, it was hard to figure out why the two characters were really attracted to each other, except for the fact that there is a limited population to pick from. "I want a fling. She's for me. I'm leaving. I'm staying. I'm no good for her." Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

So, like Gilligan, it's time for me to leave the island.

Ready To Burn A Small Town Romance Stewart Island Series Book 3 edition by Tracey Alvarez Sunset Rose Books Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

With excitement I opened Ready To Burn, Book 3 in the Due South series, by Tracey Alvarez. Having already read In To Deep Book 1 and Melting Into You Book 2 I settled in to be transported by this talented writer. Stewart Island again is the backdrop for Del and Shaye. Everyone has to eat to survive in this world, so the ingredients of a hot chef returning to help his family by working in their Bar/ Restaurant and the beautiful sexy talented sous chef Shaye who has been working hard to step up to head Chef you know its not only the ovens in this kitchen that will be "Hot Hot Hot". Loved catching up with other family members and getting a snippet of how their lives are progressing. Again well written, emotional, sexy, family, work ethics, loved it.
I received an early copy to read for this honest review, now done and I am about to read my purchased copy again this long weekend.
This is the third book in the Due South series and it was soooo damn good. Like a giant piece of chocolate cake after a long crappy day. Delicious. I have loved all the books in this series, but Del and Shaye completely won me over, managing to sneak into top spot. Which is no easy feat! I love a wounded hero, and Del Westlake has plenty of demons to overcome. Watching Shaye slowly chip away his defenses and win him over made for some wonderfully hot and heartwarming scenes.

Like the previous books in this series, we get plenty of glimpses into the previous couple’s lives and what they’re up to, without detracting from the main couple, as well as catching up with the other colorful cast of characters Tracey Alvarez has created in this fabulous series.

Ready To Burn is sexy and sweet, will make you laugh out loud, and break your heart all at once. And with a satisfyingly, sigh-worthy HEA, this book ticked all the boxes for me.

Can’t wait for the next in this series!!
I like to stick with the same author, but I gotta say I liked this series. It's my first time reading someone other than Nora Roberts and Danielle Steele and honestly I don't know what took me so long. Thanks to this series I'm gonna read other authors. Thank you
I really like series. I love this takes place in a restaurant. I love cooking and baking. I love the story of Del....the prodigal son returns. He finds out things aren't what he thought when he left the island. Del and Shay have great chemistry. He thinks he wants the big city, but is he missing out on the small island family he hasn't seen in years? You just want to stay up all night and read these books!
I think this is my favorite book in he series thus far (I have read 1-4,reading 5 now). Shaye is a fun loving character who will have your back no matter what and Del is a guy with a troubled past and skeletons in his closet. Throughout this book you get to learn a little bit more about both characters and fall in love with them. You cannot help but to root for their love in and out of the kitchen. My favorite scene is when they are preparing food for the Halloween party. You just know that they are going to create the greatest stories to tell their kids some day.
Wow, sexy, interesting, believable story line. It's great to see a heroine that doesn't overreact and sabotage every opportunity for love. She is kind and understanding but not a pushover. The Hero is sexy with a bad attitude and boy can he cook ;). I love book series that bring in other characters and their stories, you feel like you know them, or want to anyway. Great character development all the way around. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!!

I love that they knew each other growing as kids and the connection with sibling love interests.. I like this book I'm the series best so far.. They just keep getting better and better!
I've come to the conclusion that, while I enjoy reading Ms. Alvarez's stories, they're not stand-outs. There is nothing superb about them, heart-wrenching or even sizzling about them.

They are simple, cute, unassuming. In all the books I've read so far, the protagonists' worse enemies are themselves. They beat themselves up endlessly. There women are all cut from the same cloth, interchangeable from one story to the next. The same is true for the men, Alphas who are human.

Still, for a mindless read on a Sunday, they're not too bad.
