I said it when I reviewed Liza and Conner's love story, Playing With Fire, last July and I'm going to have to say it again!"THIS BOOK!!! It has to be the most exciting, romantic, hold on to your seat, intense adrenaline rush, suspenseful book I've read this year!!!"
Susan May Warren has done it once again! Who would have ever thought this sequel, I'll Be There, the story leading up to Liza and Conner's wedding, could rival how they fell in love in the first place, but amazingly enough it does!
Playing With Fire has been my favorite book of the seven to date in the Montana Fire/Rescue series, so this sequel about Conner and Liza had big shoes to fill. I'm simply stunned at the against-all-odds story, the passion and love Conner and Liza have for each other and the loyalty and commitment all their friends and family have for them.
Books like this are why I love to read so much, why I stay up way too late, why I only do the barest necessities when I'm deep into a book, it's just too fantastic to put down!
In a quote from Liza herself, she sums up so much of the overall story, "Never in her wildest dreams did Liza think her wedding disasters might be this epic". Yes, epic disasters to deal with, but oh the payoff and the rewards for being brave enough to see it all through! The courage to respond to the voice of God when He asks, "Do you love ME enough to love him?" That may be my favorite quote in the book, but I can't forget the swoon-worthy Conner with his heart in his hands, offering Liza all that he is and all he hopes to be, hoping it's enough! I couldn't even breathe!!!
The challenges, the danger, the love and emotion, just all of it, contribute to this stunning Susan May Warren masterpiece. I'll be trying to catch my breath until A Matter of Trust comes out July 4th! What a day for the next book to release, I'm sure there will be plenty of fireworks to share with the day!

I have committed myself to make it through an entire Susan May Warren book without one teardrop falling. I doubt it will happen, but I'm going to give it my best effort. For "I'll Be There", I almost BROKE my record for number of tears shed...and it is a NOVELLA!
Oh, my heart!
In "I'll Be There", Warren blends the two worlds we love the very familiar Deep Haven and the new Montana Rescue series. We finally reach the culmination of the love story of Conner and Eliza, with a few twists and turns along the way. With Warren, the course of love does not EVER run smooth, but oh, the lessons we learn through these pages of fiction!
I really don't like doing this, because it's a bit like telling which of your children is your favorite. I have a multitude of talented, gifted authors that I adore and are on my 'must read' list. I love them so much I don't even have to know what their latest book is about, I just know I. Must. Read. It. Now.
But I have a bit of extra special love for Susan May Warren and her craft. She just has a way of pulling things out of my soul that I didn't even know I had lodged in there, forcing me gently to look at them, and then nudging me to hand them over to the Father. And she does it with finesse, laughter, insight, and imaginary people that I truly wish were real.
"I'll Be There" is an emotional, exciting reading experience, but be prepared with tissues in hand and your heart hammering away in your chest as you dive into her latest literary offering. Personally? I can barely wait for her next release, "A Matter of Trust", but "I'll Be There" definitely helped a bit with the waiting. Well, it would have if I hadn't plowed through the pages like a madwoman!
"I'll Be There" gets my "Oh, The Feels" award, and I purchased a digital copy from (currently this title is only available in electronic format). Until the next book...
Another Deeply Moving, Wonderfully Woven Story!!
The only problem I have with this author is that I never want her stories to end! I always want MORE! Like her other novels, this story is based on a hymn, which had me singing it throughout the book. One of my favorite quotes in the book is “The Ebenezer…was a stone that Samuel set up after God protected them…It means, ‘THUS FAR THE LORD HAS HELPED US.’…These scars are your Ebenezer marks.” And I love this line “God is trustworthy, before, during, and after our wounds.” This book is such an accurate portrayal of what marriage should be, and how God uses it to help us understand our relationship with Him. And another favorite quote is “We come to Him, but HE RUNS AFTER US.” This book helps us think about embracing "God’s love in the midst of your scars.” I HIGHLY recommend this book and this author!
